For a 6:30 AM wake-up, the optimal bedtimes would be calculated as 6:30 AM minus 90 minutes times the number of cycles, minus 15 minutes of sleep latency.
  • Step 4 - Present multiple options: Rather than giving you a single bedtime, the calculator presents several options corresponding to 3, 4, 5, and 6 complete sleep cycles. This way, you can choose the option that best fits your schedule while understanding exactly how many hours of sleep each option provides.

For example, if your wake-up time is 6:30 AM, the recommended bedtimes would be approximately 11:00 PM (5 cycles, 7.5 hours), 9:30 PM (6 cycles, 9 hours), 12:30 AM (4 cycles, 6 hours), and 2:00 AM (3 cycles, 4.5 hours). The calculator clearly labels each option with the number of cycles and total sleep duration so you can make an informed choice.

The "Sleep Now" mode works in the opposite direction. It takes the current time, adds 15 minutes for sleep latency, and then calculates optimal wake-up times by adding successive 90-minute cycles.
